Visually, Zack Snyder did a fantastic job with Watchmen . The incredible attention to detail in everything from the background sets to the props and costumes is really something to see. Of course one aspect of the film I could have stood to see a bit less of was Dr. Manhattan’s penis. The logic of the story was that eventually he becomes so detached from human norms that he doesn’t see the point of wearing any clothing. However I’m pretty sure I don’t recall Mr. Happy being so prevalent in the book. Here we’ve got full body shots all over the place and frankly, it was a bit distracting (I’ll never look at Blue Man Group quite the same way aga
We also had the chance to see the long awaited Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull , the latest Pixar flick Wall-E , Will Smith as a superhero in Hancock , Angelina Jolie as an assassin in Wanted , Hellboy II: The Golden Army . To keep us laughing we had Tropic Thunder , The Pineapple Express (which I haven’t seen) and Get Sma
Benicio del Toro is a great actor and I’m looking forward to seeing him as the tortured soul cursed by the, uh, curse of the werewolf. It looks like they’ll be trying to do as much as they can with practical visual effects (although I’m sure there will be CGI as well) and that suits this f
So in the end, is Watchmen a good film? I think so. Was it a great or close to perfect film? I’d have to say no. It felt long to me, and we have the issues I pointed out above. It is however yet another comic book-based movie that breaks the mold, and lays the groundwork for more non-traditional comic book stories to be turned into fi
If there was ever a film that was suited to the twisted vision of Tim Burton, this is it. I’m not the biggest Burton fan and some of what I’ve seen in the trailer doesn’t quite work for me (the Red Queen’s head is so huge it looks cartoonish), but overall this is bound to be a feast for the senses and probably the closest a screen version will get to the source mater
Last year could have been worse – 5 of our 10 most anticipated movies of 2009 turned out to live up to our expectations (including Watchmen, Up, and Star Trek ), while the other five ranged from mediocre ( Public Enemies ) to downright disappointing ( Terminator Salvation, Wolverine, Transformers 2 ). Of course “most anticipated” does not necessarily mean “movies we think are going to be awesome” – it’s “movies we hope are going to be aweso
Not only does he have the task of adapting The Hobbit – the prequel to the mega-success that was the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but he’s making two movies out of it. Most likely they will be shot simultaneously (as all of the Lord of the Rings movies were), but it’s still an extra bit of weight on his should
Below is the list of a selection of the 32 categories from this year’s Scream nominations. For those of you (all of you?) who want to have YOUR say on which film should win, you’re in luck! Public voting for the awards has opened already and will run right up to October 17th. But before you head off to vote, here are some of the nomin
These are the glory days of the masked crime fighter, with society loving them and the heroes enjoying the heck out of what they do – even forming a loose alliance with one another. Eventually in the film we see some of these older “superheroes” who are now either dead or retired – trying to live normal li
Also, despite the “cool factor,” Wanted didn’t manage to beat underdog summer flick The Incredible Hulk . I guess more people thought it was ridiculous ( as I did ) than thought it was “awesome, dude!”. However superhero Movie games story guide|https://superheromoviespot.Com/ movie fans across the land can weep in unison at the fact that Hulk was not able to defeat three hip, New York City powershopping babes on the prowl for true l
The format of the film is such that you don’t get to know some of the characters until you’re pretty deep into the film. We don’t get to see the pre-Dr. Manhattan Jon Osterman until we’re probably over an hour into the film. The movie jumps around quite a bit, and I don’t know how that will go over with people who aren’t familiar with the original story. It seems to me that perhaps some license should have been taken with the structure of the film considering the fact that the original story took place in 12 separate comic book issues spread over the course of an entire year. But if you know the story, this won’t bother you at
Even with the amount of stuff del Toro has on his plate, he still finds the time to do interviews to let us eager fans in on what’s he’s up to and how far he is along with the stuff he has upcoming. In an interview with Wired , del Toro talked about various different things including his movies up until this point, his upcoming mammoth-project The Hobbit and other future works, and the nature of future storytell
Lost should win Best TV Show (I love Dexter , but it’s no Lost ); Best Horror Movie should go to Let The Right One In (I would say Drag Me To Hell , but since that’s a comedy too, Let The Right One takes it for me); Best Actor in a Fantasy Movie Or TV Show should go to Brad Pitt for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button ; and Best Comic Book Movie should (EASILY) go to Watchm
