What to Expect on the Day
During the consultation we will decide together whether the procedure is to address the labia majora, the labia minora or a combination of both – however, treating the inner lips is more common. The will involve making an appropriate cut in the labia: along the labia, by making a v-shape or by trimming skin and tissue from the surface of the labia. This will enable the right amount of skin and tissue to be removed in order to reduce the amount of protrusion.
The labiaplasty can be used as part of a mummy makeover procedure, to help improve the appearance of the body following pregnancy and childbirth, or alongside when addressing the functioning of the vagina.
Labiaplasty usually takes around 1.5 hours. At Real Surgery we use a general anaesthetic and you should be able to go home the same day.
You may need to take weeks off work with most people having significantly within 6 weeks.
Most patients can move around gently the same day, but should avoid strenuous activity.
You may need to avoid strenuous exercise and the gym for approx. weeks.
Driving is generally possible after one to two weeks, once you are comfortable.
You can usually shower after 48 hours, but baths, swimming, and hot tubs should be avoided until fully healed.
Full recovery from labiaplasty surgery takes around 6 to 8 weeks, with swelling continuing to improve over several months.

Showering After a Labiaplasty

Follow up appointments will be made 1 week, 3 weeks and 3 months after surgery so we can closely monitor your healing and .
