‘Kick-Ass’ Director Talks Pretty Violence and Pigtailed Hit Girls

“I don’t want to sound too arrogant about the thing because there’s nothing worse than someone saying, “I made the best damn movie of all time!”, then you watch it, and you go, “Yeah…” I can say this… not that it means much… but it’s definitely the best movie I’ve ever made. That doesn’t mean it’s a great film. But, for me, I think I punched above my weig

“With Pan’s Labyrinth and The Devil’s Backbone, which is a less well-known film, I was trying the same thing, in a way. And with my first feature, the vampire fable Cronos, too. I tried to take genre premises and explore them obliquely, where the fantastic is either tangential or illuminates reality in a different w

“In the next 10 years, we’re going to see all the forms of entertainment-film, television, video, games, and print-melding into a single-platform “story engine.” The Model T of this new platform is the PS3. The moment you connect creative output with a public story engine, a narrative can continue over a period of months or years. It’s going to rewrite the rules of ficti

Well, that’s it. Hopefully one of these will get you to the store and buying a new DVD or maybe searching through some you already own. Have you got any favorite DVD commentaries? Disagree with the list above? Let us know in the comments section be

Are you looking forward to Hancock 2 ? Are you annoyed it will be hitting theaters later rather than sooner? Would you be bothered if Berg didn’t come back to direct again, since he appears to be ultra-busy with other proje

Although some of the awards are truly suspect (how the hell The Spirit got nominated for ANYTHING is beyond me), I still like the overall celebration of the type of sci-fi, fantasy, comic book and horror films we here at Screen Rant revel in 🙂 Although I won’t go into a specific rundown of who I think should win, I’d like to throw my opinion in the ring for a few of t

Below is the list of a selection of the 32 categories from this year’s Scream nominations. For those of you (all of you?) who want to have YOUR say on which film should win, you’re in luck! Public voting for the awards has opened already and will run right up to October 17th. But before you head off to vote, here are some of the nomin

It really sounds like Vaughn has put his all into Kick-Ass , keeping the source material firmly in mind. I am liking the sound of it – particularly of what he says about giving the superhero movie games tips|https://superheromoviespot.com/ a glossy Spider-Man feel while having all of the really gritty, really violent stuff happen on-screen. I’d love to get a look of some of those moviegoer’s faces that aren’t expecting such explicitn

Having said that, just think about this: the studio has already hired two writers for Hancock 2 , and so it seems they want to get it into theaters sooner before later. I’ve said it before but I’ll reiterate – could we see Berg departing Hancock 2 and the studio bringing in another director in his place? If they want to get this thing in the can soon, and Berg is busy, it only makes sense that he’d be replaced. It’s not like the reason people went to see the first Hancock was because Berg directed… And he already had to drop out of the Dune remake

Along with the awards, the show will also be airing some exclusive, world premiere of footage of some of the most anticipated movies of 2010! Presenters and musicians for the event are to be announced shor

So what didn’t work? I thought that both Malin Akerman and Carla Gugino were quite weak. Akerman’s performance came across as pretty shallow to me, and Gugino’s first real scene in the film as an old woman almost had me laughing out loud because it seemed so campy. I could take or leave Patrick Wilson’s performance – maybe it was just the character he was playing that left me c

“Okay. When you watch it… I will bet you any amount of money you want… anything at any odds… I’ll give you a million-to-one odds if you want… that you will a) fall in love with her, b) buy her, and c) think, “My god, I just saw the Jodie Foster/Natalie Portman of this generation… I really mean that. If this movie was STAR WARS, she’d be Han So

The director and two producer/writers keep the energy bearable and the information fascinating over 683 minutes of the trilogy discussing the incredible five-year production. From selling the scripts to casting decisions, a 15-month shoot to revolutionizing the art of motion capture, and a handful of visual effects discussions, these three know everything you need to know about the fantasy tale. And I mean everyth

The nominees have been announced for the fourth annual Scream Awards, held every year by Spike TV . The decisively more “fan-friendly” award ceremony (compared to the Oscars) honors films from the sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic-book genres of movies, TV shows and comic books. The awards are described as, “the first and only global event of its kind,” to honor those gen
